CRISIS TEXT LINE i personally have used this, and yes, it was helpful. www.crisistextline.org/textline/Or type CONNECT to 741741 in the United States. If your at wit's end, you should go ahead and try it. Are these doctors and nurses and professionals who can give you medical psychiatric advice? No, but they are trained in what they do which is to listen, let you get it out, offer a few suggestions, and they gave me a plan of things to do or work on for the rest of the night after we got off the phone. This is such a super idea because a whole lot of us have phone-related anxiety or severe anxiety when trying to speak to someone. With this, you only need to text. My personal experience with it was that I did find it helped me in that 1. for at least a few minutes, 15 or 20, I was communicating with another human being. And when you're experiencing anxiety and related issues due to extreme isolation, ANY chitchat with another person, even if it's not terribly long, is a good thing, right? 2. She helped me figuratively take a deep breath and get back to the basics. Having a lie-down and playing relaxation/meditation youtubes. simply stroking and talking to a pet and giving them some extra love. My cat Nikita got to enjoy this, as I gave her a long brushing and lots of scratches and kisses. Different textures or sensations across your fingertips, for example, will help activate serotonin, according to various sources I've read through the years. 3. I was told that if my bad night continues, and the wheels fly off, to simply use the Crisis Textline again. As it turns out, I didn't have to. 4. My 'talker' told me to make a page of journaling of things that I need to be reminded of when I'm sinking fast. Like, "This is only anxiety. It is not a sign of some strange illness. I've had it before and it has always gone away. And it will go away this time." It was also helpful to write down some numbers of people I can call if things go too far South. At first I couldn't think of any. Then I realized that yes, I DO have a few people that if I really need them I can call them, day or night. If it isn't a family member or irl friend, think of some of your fellow villagers. Of course you can chat with them, but sometimes having a number to call and hearing a real voice can be of immense help when you positively feel you're losing it. Overall my experience, only though it was just that once, with the CRISIS TEXT LINE was really good. I'd use it again in a heartbeat if I needed to. And if you have more resources to add below, please do, usually at some point or other, most of us will find them coming in handy.
